At IO Music Academy, we do more than teach music production; we foster creativity, innovation, and a sense of community. Since our founding, we’ve been dedicated to creating a space where artists can develop their skills, explore their potential, and connect with like-minded individuals. IO Music Academy is more than just a school—it’s a dynamic hub where collaboration and hands-on learning thrive.

Our journey began in 2017, when Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Andy Caldwell decided to transition from over a decade of touring to a new chapter: opening a music production school in Los Angeles. Andy envisioned a place where aspiring producers could find the mentorship, resources, and support he wished he’d had early in his career. Shortly after making the decision, he brought in Adam Weimann—a music producer, DJ, and educator from Edmonton, Alberta—to co-found and shape the vision of IO Music Academy. Adam’s background in community-building, music education, and his passion for the underground electronic scene were a perfect match for the academy’s ethos.

From the start, our mission has been simple: to provide high-quality music education at an affordable cost while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. We wanted IO to be more than just a place to learn—it had to feel like home. Behind the scenes, our small but passionate team works out of our Hollywood studio, ensuring that every class, workshop, and interaction reflects our core values.

Over the years, IO Music Academy has grown into a thriving community of artists, instructors, and students from around the world. We’ve hosted masterclasses with renowned producers, provided scholarships to support aspiring artists, and adapted to the ever-changing music industry landscape—all while staying true to our roots.
