Intro to Modular Synthesis with Ryan Smith

Event Description:

Curious about modular synths but not sure where to start? In this workshop hosted by Ryan Smith of Caribou (AKA Taraval) you'll learn the fundamentals of modular synthesis using VCV Rack, a free and powerful software that lets you explore modular synthesis before investing in hardware.

Cover the basics of signal flow, different types of modules, and patching techniques to help you discover new ways to experiment and express yourself with sound.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of how modular systems work and the confidence to start experimenting on your own. This is an interactive workshop - so please come with the free version of VCV Rack 2 installed.

About Ryan:
Ryan has spent decades performing with Caribou, touring the globe from massive festivals to intimate clubs. His solo work as Taraval has been released on Four Tet’s TEXT label, and has played DJ sets at legendary spots like Berghain and the Warehouse Project.
